Carson Wetz is the king of Philadelphia, and the fans are in full agreement, as more than 15,000 people filled into Citizen’s Bank Park to watch more than 30 Eagles players compete in a highly intense softball game for charity. Fans from across the country flew in to attend Wentz’s second AO1 Foundation charity softball game.
Showing how close the Eagles star quarterback has grown with the city of Philadelphia, Wentz honored Eagles fans by stating that he wouldn’t want to play in any other city, during a press conference prior to the game.
“I don’t think I could have gone to a better city that fits my personality,” Wentz said in a news conference before the game via the AO1 Foundation. “The blue-collar work ethic, the passion they bring in everything they do. So I love it here, absolutely love it here. The fact that the city gets behind this event, gets behind what we’re doing from a foundation, obviously, they get behind us in a huge way when it comes to football.”
The game, which ended with tight end Richard Rodgers hitting a walk-off home run into the left field bleachers to give the Birds offense a 17-16 win, raised over $500K for charity.
