HELMETS FOR HEROES
Bart Starr was a legend both on the football field and off the field. To honor Bart after his passing in 2019, each September, Capture Sports & Entertainment brings together all 32 National Football League (NFL) starting quarterbacks and several legends to raise money for the Starr Children’s Fund to support pediatric cancer research.
Capture works with each NFL team directly to make sure the personalized letters from Cherry Starr and helmets are delivered to each quarterback. After signing, the helmets are returned to the Capture office where our team photographs each of them and sets them up for auction on the foundation’s charity site.
THE STORY
Bart Starr, co-founder of the Starr Children’s Fund, used to write ‘kick-off’ notes to each quarterback before the start of the NFL season. After Bart’s passing in 2019, Capture worked with Cherry, Bart’s wife, to carry on this tradition.
Cherry writes personalized letters, wishing each quarterback good luck in the upcoming season and asking for their support in signing a helmet to be auctioned off during Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month each September in the Helmets for Heroes eBay for Charity auction.
“We had an overwhelming response and are so pleased to announce that we have 100 percent participation every year.” – Cherry Starr
SUCCESSES
Since the campaign’s inception, Capture has secured 100% participation from all 32 NFL starting quarterbacks.
Helmets for Heroes is the first cause all 32 NFL quarterbacks have come together to support outside of NFL cause marketing initiatives.
Capture helped increase gross revenue for the campaign over 100% percent from its inaugural year.
Capture created a wide variety of eye-catching graphics to support the auction through organic and paid social media, and digital ads.
