BUCKS WIN! TOP OFF-THE-COURT MOMENTS

Written by Chellee Siewert, president and founder of Capture Sports Marketing

The game is won. The parade is done. However, the celebrating will continue as the Bucks are CHAMPIONS!

As I reflect on the last week, I’m so happy for the Milwaukee Bucks organization and the Milwaukee community. Having worked with the Bucks Community Foundation for the last five years, it has been fantastic watching them celebrate this win. Much has been said about the play on the court, however, I find the player behind the uniform, the character behind the coach, and the story behind the reporter bring greater lessons in life.

Family.

Giannis has openly shared that family is everything. When the horn sounded to end game six, the world got to see that the first people he looked for to hug and celebrate with was his family. We got to see the fun side of the Bucks' MVP when after receiving the trophy, he immediately started an Instagram Live video with his brother who couldn’t be at the game due to COVID-19 protocol.

Sportsmanship.

The respect shown between the two teams throughout the series was evident, however, watching Monty Williams go into the Bucks locker room to congratulate the team following his own team's loss was heartwarming.

Up & Coming.

With just a few days' notice, Malika Andrews stepped in as the sideline reporter for the NBA finals. I was so impressed with how she managed the chaos of the celebration. With poise and professionalism, she asked great questions of the players and ownership. But I'm even more impressed by how open she has been open about her struggles as a teenager with an eating disorder, and the path she took to become the youngest sports broadcaster to host the NBA Finals Trophy ceremony.

While what happens on the court is awesome, it is the off-the-court moments that can leave the largest impact!
